What video game stuff have you done this last couple of weeks?

Hey all!
Thought I would find out what kind of video game stuff - games you've played, info you've read about or talked about video games, where you heard anything about video games, etc?
I'll start with what video game stuff I've experienced this last 2 weeks:
- We had a video game playing session as researchers - played guitar hero, Wii, and DDR - we gained a new appreciation for the skills we saw everyone play on the 13th~!! We pretty much played and talked video games for 6 hours - very cool play time.
- Kathy and I were filmed yesterday for a documentary on video games and literacy - bright lights, powder on my face and all! I love talking about video games - it seems to disrupt so many people!
- I also presented at a teacher's conference about computers - Ms. Ehrcke and I presented on using Game Maker to make video games - about 18 teachers came out which was a good sign.
Looking forward to hearing what video game involvement you had recently...

October 30, 2007 at 4:37 PMI mostly play warcraft, starcraft and civ in my spare time, and at school I always work on my game.
I guess the most recent thing I did with my game was make so that roads connect when they are placed right next to eachother, so that you can place long streams of roads that while alone have curved edges, but when next to another road, will flatten out and connect, and only on the connected sides.
I also used GML, (Game Maker Language) to make so that I could have my charcters (tanks) harvest wood, record it on a bar, and then have the forest grow back after awhile. My game is really awsome, and I am learning lots!

November 7, 2007 at 8:13 AMI don't know about others, but I would love to work on my game on the uvic computers. I see a couple problems though, the program I use to make my game is only runnable on windows, the uvic computers were mac (I love macs, but virtual PC isn't going to cut it. Unless they are new, with intel chips…) . If it was possible to get ahold of some windows computers with GameMaker on them, then I could temporarily put my game on my website, then load it on the computer at uvic, work on it, then put it back on my website and put it on my school computer.

November 10, 2007 at 6:27 PM(I hate double posting, but with new events, I feel it is necessary, since I can't edit my previous post)
I recently aquired a 1g flash drive, so now no need for a website, I can just plug it in.

November 11, 2007 at 8:31 PMHey Slimebaron!
I believe that at least 3 of those computers in the lab are dual platform (Mac and Windows) - could be another possibility!

November 16, 2007 at 11:42 AMFor game making, I generally use BYOND, witch is an acronym for Build Your Own Net Dream. It mainly creates Multiplayer online games, but its mega fun anyway! BTW, RPG maker rules! LOL! I love that program, the first time I used it, I made this massive game, that was so bad, even I didnt want to play it! Haha. Anyways, just wanted to throw in my 2 cents, Peace out!

i haven't done much video game "stuff" but a a while ago i used three different types of game makers and each one was different.
the three were
flash
this type is very hard and very annoying, you have to use code to make things work which is VERY confusing and annoying
stage cast creator
very basic and very easy you must you or make sprites for it to look good tho. the end end result is very fun
RPG maker
This just makes RPG type games (mostly) turn based action) but if you want to make a game with a good storryline then this is the one for you.
